Visit of Shri Bhaskar Rao, IPS (Retd.), Vice President, IRCS KSB to Haveri District Branch Shri Bhaskar Rao, IPS (Retd.), Vice President of the Indian Red Cross Society, Karnataka State Branch, visited the Haveri District Branch to review and strengthen Red Cross activities in the region. He was accompanied by Shri Umakant, Assistant Secretary of IRCS KSB. During the visit, the delegation held a meeting with the Superintendent of Police, Haveri, where they discussed conducting First Aid and CPR training sessions for the district police personnel. This initiative aims to empower frontline officers with life-saving skills essential in emergencies. The team also interacted with the office bearers of the Haveri District Red Cross Branch and reviewed ongoing initiatives, future plans, and strategies to enhance outreach and impact. As part of the visit, the delegation visited the District Disability Rehabilitation Centre (DDRC) and held discussions with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Zilla Panchayat, Haveri. The meeting focused on institutional memberships for Zilla Panchayat (ZP), Taluk Panchayat (TP), and Gram Panchayats (GP) to integrate Red Cross services with local governance. In a significant step forward, the Deputy Commissioner of Haveri joined the team to inspect the proposed site for the Red Cross Blood Bank building. The inspection was attended by the District Disabled Welfare Officer (DDWO), Vice President Shri Ravi Menasinakai, the District Chairman, and other committee members. The team also explored collaborative opportunities with local NGOs and community-based organizations operating in both rural and urban areas to expand the reach of Red Cross humanitarian services and programs. The visit concluded with renewed commitment from all stakeholders to work collaboratively for the betterment of public health and welfare through the Red Cross platform.
The Indian Red Cross Society, Hassan District Branch, is actively engaged in volunteer work to distribute relief materials to those affected by recent floods. The efforts are being led by - Mr. Mohan-Chairman of the Hassan District Branch Sri. Shabbir Ahamed-Secretary and all committee members of the Hassan District Branch. These individuals are coordinating the distribution of essential items to support flood victims in the region.

Interactive Session with Shri Bhaskar Rao, IPS (Retd.) – Strengthening Red Cross Initiatives

Mr. Bhaskar Rao, IPS (Retd.), former Police Commissioner of Bangalore City and Vice President of the Indian Red Cross Society, Karnataka State Branch, addressed the Managing Committee (MC) members of the Bangalore Urban District Branch. In his inspiring address, he emphasized the importance of enhancing activities related to the Youth Red Cross (YRC), Junior Red Cross (JRC), disaster preparedness, and various other humanitarian initiatives.

During the session, appointment letters were distributed to the Directors of various sub-committees to encourage focused and dedicated efforts towards strengthening the functioning of the District Branch.

Mr. A.B. Shetty, Chairman of the Urban District Branch, outlined the numerous humanitarian services undertaken by the branch. Mr. Rajesh, Secretary, formally welcomed the gathering. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Umakanth, Assistant Secretary of the State Branch; Mr. Ashwatnarayan, Treasurer; Mr. Nagesh H.T., State MC Member; and several other MC members of the Urban District Branch.

Following the address, the MC members deliberated on the listed agenda items and reached several positive and constructive decisions aimed at furthering the mission of the Red Cross in the district
